Adventures of being Home

Link up with old friends

The moment you step foot back on the island, old friends know.

It is like a six sense of awareness, and they are coming to find you.  One of my oldest friends of over 25 years picked me up this morning for what was to be a beach run in Bull Bay black sand beach, but turned into Boardwalk beach, then ultimately the great Hellshire beach, I had no complaints.

A few years back Hellshire was a beach for swimming, kids making sand castles, and white sand beaches with crystal clear waters, not much the same any more.  Some say its' rising tides due to over fishing, fading coral reefs, and possibly Climate change.

In true Jamaican fashion we make the best with what we have, people still enjoyed the waters, fish were still being prepared and the voices of young children laughing colored the air.

The food was fantastic, the energy was reminiscent of fun childhood, and the company was perfect.  We are still in a pandemic, and the country is on a islandwide curfew, so the police/coast guard came by to check on crowds, but it didn't change much.

We also go in some chew stick from the farmers, check it out and pick up a pack for yourself.
